Sacraments as Medicine

1st Saturday of OT – 2019

“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

Many people wrongly assume that the Church is for ‘holy people.’ But that couldn’t be further from the Truth. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We’re not here because we’re holy, we’re here because we want to be holy; because, quite frankly, it’s only through Christ and His Church that this process of healing and sanctification takes place.

If sin is the ailment, then Christ is the divine physician, and the sacraments are the medicine that he’s prescribed for us.
